Calling all fantasy authors - doesn’t matter if you're Wide or in Kindle Unlimited!
I’m pulling together a huge promo, kinda like the Stuff Your Kindle Day for romance but for Fantasy books only. My goal is to do this twice a year. October and April. You might be thinking why am I talking about this now in August? Well, I want to have a fantastic first event this October and it requires me to get all sorts of authors on board (aka I know we can be like herding cats, and that's okay.)
What is this promo?
Fantasy Free-for-all: Fill Your Kindle for Fall!
What would you need to do to participate?
You will set a book to FREE for October 6th, 2023. To get into the promo you will need to fill out this form with the information for the FANTASY book that you will be pricing for FREE. You also need to share the promo with your newsletter list and on social media. After the event, I will be sending out another form asking for links to the newsletter and any social medial postings you do. If you do not send this back within two weeks, you will be bumped from any future events. If you do not have a newsletter, you should start one and mention that in the form.
What types of books is this for?
Fantasy, any subgenre, but no paranormal romance, and no romance as the main plot. So I will accept Romantic Fantasy but not Fantasy Romance. The fantasy needs to be the main plot. This has to be a complete book for sale, not a reader magnet.
What is the goal?
To get over 200+ Fantasy authors to band together and find a whole bunch of readers. Eventually, my goal is to get over 500+ authors participating each event.
So what I am getting out of this?
I’m posting my first in-series book for free and I believe that banding together is how we all do better. You will hopefully get a ton of downloads for a book from new readers.
How can You help?
Hype. All the hype. I’m going to set up a landing page where you can direct readers who want to sign up for the events newsletter. Authors who sign up early will get an opportunity to have a character interview or author interview on my blog about the book they are offering for free. Creates social media graphics to share with the group of authors who are participating in the promo. I am going to create several Instagram posts for the events and Facebook posts that you can copy and paste. The day of I will also be posting in reader groups. I’ll post links to these posts so other authors can comment and boost engagement.
Use the promos hashtags so people can find your social posts and comment.

If you personally have worked with bookstagramers or booktokers, reach out to them! Or if you know of book blogs and such. I’ll have sample language you can use to reach out. The worst they can say is no. If you don’t want to reach out just pass along their info and I will. My goal is to touch base with 3 to 5 different people each week until the promo. It will be easier once I can say XXX number of authors have signed up.
Where is this being posted?
Bookfunnel and I’m creating a separate section onsubstack as well for the promo. Bookfunnel doesn’t let me include things like subgenres or tags that help readers search for tropes or things they want to read. This also lets me include folks who aren’t on Bookfunnel. In addition, I will be posting about it on my blog and reaching out to several reader blogs to share the news on Oct 6th.

When will we be getting the link to share? I'd like to prep my newsletter soon.
This seems like a really cool idea! Thanks for setting it up. As a newly published author, I'm still trying to learn some of the ropes and I was hoping to get some advice/clarification around making the book free...I'm interested in participating, but I went wide with my book and when I looked into it, it seems the only way to make your book free on Amazon is by setting it to free on other retailers and going through price match, which seems a little tricky timing-wise for one day and (as I understand it) it's not guaranteed. Does this mean it's not feasible to participate if we went wide? Also possible I'm totally misunderstanding/missing something and there's a way to do this that I'm simply not familiar with--in which case, I'd love some pointers!
