Right now I’m working on planning for the rest of the year.
What am I going to outline, write and edit, then eventually publish. What does the timing look like, and how am I going to get it all done. We have 4 months until 2024. That blows my mind.
I knew that August was going to vanish in a blink. I even warned my spouse out it and now its gone. I’m still in shock. It’s not like I didn’t do a ton in the month, I did, but I still have so far I want to go this year.
On the bright side all of the heat has given me mounds of tomatoes. In the cold of winter, I’ll remember August when I have pasta, but for right now it was just gone.
So what am I looking at?
I need to write the 2nd book in my super secret series, or at least get the first part done so I can keep serializing it when the first book comes out.
For the first time ever I’m looking at a complete rewrite of a book. It would go from 3rd person into 1st, and it has some substantial changes that need to be made. Once that's done I can go back to writing the next book in this series which I am halfway done with.
I know, my heart is very upset with me. What do you mean by completely rewriting a book?! Yet, I think it will be for the best. It would move all of the writing I’m doing into 1st person which will make switching between series easier. It will also solve a huge issue in the new series about a hidden identity problem. I keep switching what name the main character is called based on is she acting as herself or the person she had created.
It will also give me a chance to flesh out some backgrounds and fit in a little more of the world. I keep seeing comments about where people want more information about the world itself and I want to give readers that.
The other big planning project is to look at my release schedule. I’ve been writing and aiming for a quarterly release schedule, since my target is to write a book or two a quarter and create a backlog. The downsides of this are becoming more apparent as I market the 3rd book in the Traveler Series. This I am still poking with a stick to see how I feel about it.
So, yeah. That’s a lot on my plate as I’m looking at things for the rest of 2023.
